In this episode, I give you more details on the ‘Afterburn Effect’ that I have spoken and written about in the past, and how to use it to help you burn calories all day long, even after your workout is over.
As always, please leave your comments below to tell me your thoughts on the topic!

Thanks again, Coach, for always providing that “push” that I need.. it seems your helpful reminders and examples always comes at the right time for me.. I’m still working at it!!!. Judy
‘The after-burn effect is a subject always on my mind and I am happy to hear the explanation. In particular, the llifting of heavier weights and fewer reps is something I will have to continue to do on a regular basis, as I start and fall back into the endurance part of weight training, that is lighter weights. I really need to keep the after-burn effect into my routine as I am putting on weight around the middle due in fact to slow metabolism.
As usual, I thank you for your shared info and continue to put into practice your teachings. God Bless
More than welcome Esther, glad to hear this topic helped you remember the need for higher intensity.
Great to hear Judy, thanks for the comment.
Thanks Coach… perfect encouragement for me today! I was working at ‘maintenance’ rather than pushing for a heavier weight. Thanks again!

Thanks Coach Rylan, you covered something that a lot of people wouldn’t even mention.
I skip for about 4 minutes a day, I go running/jogging around the school oval every morning and I’m doing that 3-days-a-week-for-3-weeks arm toning workout.
Hopefully it will work, I trust you that it will!
Thanks again for your help and if you have any more advice to give me please give me it!
great site!
Hey Coach Rylan, thanks for all the useful advices you’ve been giving us! I’m waiting for my arm sculpting workout plan which I’ll be receiving next week & I’ll head straight into it
Hey Coach Rylan,
I have a problem. I’ve been doing that 3-days-a-week-for-3-weeks arm toning and fat burning workout and it has been hard work but I’ve always been able to do it. It’s been basically 3 weeks now and only the tops of my arms are toned (and have muscle) but the back of my arms (where all the sagginess and fat is) isn’t toned one bit. At least it doesn’t look like it!
Am I doing something wrong? Or what?
At the moment I’ve just started sticking to bench dips…
Please help.
- Kat
Bench dips alone is not going to make much of a difference. Also, what is your diet like? If you have much body fat on your arms, a proper nutrition strategy is absolutely crucial.
You need to add in some total body exercise to help boost your metabolism to get the fat off, then use a few more arm sculpting exercises to tone the back of the arms.
If you haven’t already, you NEED to check out the Go Sleeveless Program (http://www.gosleeveless.com). That is your solution right there.
